Ceremony queries

Post by abhijack » Tue Jul 17, 2018 11:27 pm

Thanks for the wonderful support from all you helpful guys out there.
I received the approval letter today and need to book my ceremony before 27th July.

I have a couple of queries about the practicalities of the ceremony.

1) How long does the process take?
2) Do you have to stand or can you sit as well?

I am asking these questions as I need to arrange the ceremony for my wife as well who gave birth to our second child via cesarean today (Yes 2 happy events today).
I am hoping that my council does a private ceremony.

The answers to the above questions will be informative with regards to how soon she can have the ceremony.

It takes about an hour, depends how many people attend.

Yes you sit during the process. You only stand at certain part, like singing the anthem etc.

Private ceremony is impersonal and last a few minutes.

You do realise that you have 90 days to attend the ceremony, so not sure about your reference to by 27th July as you are unlikely to get a date before then.

Many thanks for the reply.
I have to call the council within 21 days of the date on letter i.e 6/7/18.
Yes I know I have 90 days to attend the ceremony. But would like to have a practical date (from her physical status post-op & childcare options) in my head before ringing council to book as I am going to ask for a private one.

Fair enough.

A private ceremony costs more, most in excess of £100.

Group ceremony is an awesome experience though.

Thanks.

Another dilemma here..

Do you know how long it takes for a first child passport to arrive from the application date?

I need to do these things and am confused which order I should do them.

1) Application for child's British passport (based on parents ILR)
2) Citizenship ceremony for parents and application for British passport (as we didn't use JCAP).

My current thoughts are:
-Attend Citizenship ceremony & apply for child's British passport simultaneously ( I assume I wont need parents foreign passport for the ceremony and receipt of Naturalisation certificate).
- Once the original foreign passport is returned by HMPO, submit the application for the first adult British passport.

Does it make sense?

You can apply for a child's passport using the one week fast track service.

Thanks for pointing that out. Even better they have Saturday appointments.. :)
I will have the citizenship ceremony and child passport application (fast track ) in parallel.
Then apply for the adult passports.

Private ceremony booked for 02/08/18 as a start.
Was about to book child passport appointment for 4th but am holding on until I complete the adventure of trying to get the 4 day olds passport photo.
