Validity of BRP ILR

Hello All,

I recieved my BRP today evening after ILR application (same day service). It says Valid Until: 31-12-2024. Does ILR expires? what happens after 31-12-2024 if I decided not to go for British Citizenship?

Any suggestion or anyone with similar validity, what does it mean?

The card expires but not ILR. You will need to apply for a new card.

I believe this is because new biometric specs are to be introduced then.
