Is Tenancy agreement mandatory for Tier 2 Dependant Visa

Post by rubyracer2 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 7:17 pm

Hi gurus,

I'm going to apply a T2G dependent visa for my wife next month. Is a tenancy agreement mandatory to apply the visa. I'm currently living in a HMO and it's unlikely that my landlord will sign a No objection certificate to allow my wife to live there as well.

My new home would be sorted by the end of August, but want to know if I can apply for the visa before the agreement is signed?

Thanks in advance!

My wife has just applied for a Tier 2 Dependant visa and it was successful. I was living in a flat with 1 person but planned to move to a flat when my wife joins me. I have secured a flat with an estate agent but they were unable to provide me with a tenancy agreement more than 4 weeks prior to my move in date. So they have provided me with a letter stating that I am moving in "property address" on "date" with "my wife's name". Since the visa was successful I think a letter from the estate agent should suffice.

Hope this helps

Thank you Rad28, that is very helpful. I'll try to secure this moving in letter from my agent as well.

Original Documents while applying for Tier 2 Dependent visa

Post by rubyracer2 » Fri Aug 03, 2018 1:24 pm

Hi all,

I am applying a dependent visa for my wife who is currently in India. There are a few documents that have to be submitted with the application which are currently with me - Bank statements, Employer Letter and tenancy agreement.

Would originals of these documents be required while submitting the application in India? Or a scanned copy would suffice? Thanks in advance

Tier 2 Dependent Validity Period

Post by rubyracer2 » Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:15 am

I have a Tier 2 visa valid upto April 2022 which is the end date of the 6 year validity period. I also recently got married and am applying a tier 2 dependent visa for her.

Would her validity period be 3 years (Aug 2018 - 2021) or do I have to apply for a 5 year visa (Aug 2018-April 2022 since my leave is only valid till that period).

I would become eligible for ILR in April 2021

Thanks in advance!

Her visa will be granted for the same period as your visa and that is what you need to apply for.

Thank you CR001, appreciate your reply!

So it would be a 5 year visa valid upto April 2022 (the day my leave expires). The IHS website showed the IHS payable to be £800 (4 years). Hope that is the correct amount.

Hi,I applied for a Tier 2 Shortage Partner Visa up to 5 Years. However my visa is valid only for another 3 years and 8 months. Since her leave is valid only till my leave expires, I reckon the IHS charges should have been for 4 years.

However the IHS site calculated the payment for 5 years (£1000). Would I be entitled to claim a IHS refund for one year?

Thanks in advance
