How long can you stay of the UK on spouse visa?

After waiting for a long time, my wife recently received the spouse visa. Unfortunately she had to go back to India to take care of his brother who's going through cancer treatment, while the treatment is going well so far and the outcome looks very positive, I was wondering if there are any restrictions on how long she can stay out of the UK before it affects the visa?
