Hi guys;

I will be applying for my HSMP in Aug later this year; assuming I will be able to get it - I heard that I will need about 3000 GBP in my account for an EC

Is that true?

I think its £800 - where did you get that figure from?

Most people advise you take £3000 to help you get "set up" in the UK (about the same as what I bought over), but Im pretty sure you are only "required" to have £800.

The maintenance funds requirement is for Tier 1 and the HSMP guidance does not prescribe any such requirement. As of now, anyone applying for Tier 1 from within UK needs to show GBP 800, and from India GBP 2800, as available funds for maintenance. Since BIA has not introduced Tier 1 in NZ yet, it doesn't hold good in your case.

Unless BIA closes HSMP scheme in NZ by the time you have your HSMP approval and are ready to apply for EC, this is not a condition that will affect your application.

Check with the BHC in NZ regarding the documentation you need to apply for EC under the HSMP scheme. And search the forum too .. for more information regarding EC applications.

The 800 pounds thing has misled a lot of people. As has already been noted, the 800 pound requirement only applies to people applying from within the UK. Obviously, it does not apply to those of us who will be applying from NZ. Until Tier 1 comes into force in NZ later this year, we need to show that we have approx 2800 pounds.

Hi Everyone

Has anyone applied for EC lately in the last few months?? Just wondering how long it takes and whether we can ring them up to find out how far they are with processing??

I sent my application to them on the 9th May and have not heard anything from them yet and i'm due to fly off on the 27th June.

If anyone knows anything, please let me know.

Just got notificaiton yesterday that my EC had been accepted, im assuming you have yours now as well?
