Standard Visit Visa is valid for 10 Years?

Post by newbiepk » Thu Aug 30, 2018 8:37 pm

Hello everyone,

I am applying visit visa for my mother.

My mother visits the UK quite often, her last visa was valid for 2 years that expired in September 2016 and this time I want to apply for a 10 years visa.

My question is what visa type should I select that is valid for 10 years and allows my mom multiple entry with a maximum duration of 6 months?

Thanks for your help.

What options do they give for her to pick?

Whenever I visit the 'Check if you need a UK visa' page (https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa) it asks 'Do you have a valid Article 10 residence card?' which I don't. And then the follows prompt shows up on the webpage:
You’ll need a visa to come to the UK
The visa you need depends on your partner or family member’s situation.

- They’re from the EEA
Apply for a family permit.

- They’re from outside the EEA
Apply for a Standard Visitor visa.

I hope this clarifies things. I am confused if I have to apply for a standard visitor visa or a family permit for my mother.

You still apply for her visa using the visa application portal from her country of origin

From THERE you go ahead and choose it. Family permit is for EEA

Husband's timeline - overstayer 11 yrs
08/16 - FLR (FP) Partner, refused 02/18, 03/18 - JR permission refused with merit
08/18 - FLR FP (Partner) PSC - Approved
07/20 - FLR FP to FLR M Switch - Approved, 03/23 FLR M Ext Approved.
