Leave to remain to ILR status time limit on leaving the UK.

Post by dan_N » Tue May 20, 2008 6:54 pm

Hiya,

I'm back in the land of immigration quandries. Ah the joys.

So my wife and I got married in November last year. She is a US citizen and has leave to remain in the UK on a spousal visa.

Now as I understand it, there's a time limit on the amount of time she can spend out of the UK before we convert her visa to an ILR in 3 and a half years time.

Is this a correct assumption - and if so how much time can we realistically spend in the USA together before we end up having problems or having to get another LTR?

Thanks very much for any help.

Love this resource!!

:D

Spousal visas are only for 2 years, and ILR has to be applied for befire the spousal visa expires.

What's the start date on the visa and when did she enter the UK?
