Husband and wife's application on August 2018 question

Post by Soon2bBrit2018 » Wed Oct 10, 2018 10:18 am

Hi all,

Can anybody shed some light as to how long does a British citizenship application take for a couple (Husband and Wife) who are Non-EU? It has already been over 2 months now and still awaiting for the results.

I was also wondering if there would be any problem with my residency requirements which I have been granted ILR on 5th of August 2017 and my wife granted on the 3rd of August 2017 and Both my wife and I have applied for British Citizenship on the 5th of August 2018?

You need to simply wait. It can take as little as a couple of months OR it can take many months. Nothing you can do to speed it up either. Each of your applications will be decided and processed individually, there is no 'dependent' concept for citizenship applications and each applicant must meet the requirements individually.
I was also wondering if there would be any problem with my residency requirements which I have been granted ILR on 5th of August 2017 and my wife granted on the 3rd of August 2017 and Both my wife and I have applied for British Citizenship on the 5th of August 2018?
If ILR was held for the full 12 months AND you were both physically present in the UK 5 years ago on the same date you applied, then there should be no issue.

Thank you CR001 for the prompt response.

Yes we both were present in the UK on 5th or 6th or 4th of August 2013. I was holding a Tier 2 General visa and my wife as Tier 2 Dependent that time. My Tier 2 Genreal Visa started on April 2012 and My wife's visa started on August 2012.

Just to be sure, May I also ask if there will also be any issue if my wife was granted Tier 2 Dependent visa on August 10 2012, Granted ILR on 3rd August 2017 and applied on 5th August 2018?

I would like to make sure aswell if there will also be an issue if my ILR was granted (and stated in my BRP) on the 5th of August 2017 and have applied, submitted and paid the fees for citizenship on 5th of August 2018?

Sorry if this question/topic has already been raised in the past. Couldnt find it so i had to ask and because our application is already past 2 months. Im getting a bit nervous why our results have not been posted to us. I hope you would understand. Many thanks for the future reply.

What date is your ILR decision letter dated? My letter was dated 16 and this is when my ILR was granted, but BRP was issued on 23rd. Anyway, in seems that in your case it is not a problem anyway, it just takes time.

Hi Epi,
Did a premium service for our ILR with the approval letter from UKBA on the 02 August 2017. BRP issue date was 05-08-2017. My wife's issue date on her BRP was 03-08-2017.

Just needed confirmation from other people that this will not be an issue. And sorry, hope you all could understand how nerve-racking it is to wait and its already past 2 months and seeing alot of people who submitted their applications further than your date of submission and recieving theirs while no news into our results yet.

To CR001,
I would like to make sure aswell if there will also be an issue if my ILR was granted (and stated in my BRP) on the 5th of August 2017 and have applied, submitted and paid the fees for online citizenship on 5th of August 2018? Was present in the country on 4th, 5th and 6th of August 2013.
