Adils, UK IT market is very strange...getting a job here is usually not that dependent on just market, skill etc...
There is X factor (you say UK exp, market, CV, skills etc etc) which may help you or may not help you to get the job.
As far as market is concerned, Credit Cunch has anyway started hitting it.
After next month its would start getting much worse.
Most of the agent who call me now a day say, there are many candidates for few jobs...if you want demand that much salary you will be out priced and we will get someone else...
In short, Agent/company dont care too much for general skills as demand is less and supply is too much...
So plan accordingly...
just for your information, I left a job of £50K (in london) in just two days due to some issues and going to take a job of £38K (in bristol).
Yeah, That's true. That means I must be in the UK and try hard. I am also not getting an exact picture of what should be made to get a job faster there in UK? ( share your experience please)netacct wrote:If u r in USA then simply forget getting a job unless your skill are very rare.
why would company/agency show a interest in a guy who is in usa when there are thousands of local candidates?
On another, posting the same questions on every other topic/thread may not help you to get the replies
Oh, That's great.netacct wrote:Simple advice,
Take it steady and take it easy.
Don't apply any logic here and go with the flow.
Don't try to find any meaning in anything here. Just accept it.
Just stay cool and enjoy life.
Yesterday, I went for lap dancing...it was cool even thought I am out of work since last few months
Oh, That looks strange, ubugger wrote:The deal is that at the moment the market is overrun by out of work testers with substantial amounts of skill, or at least their CV's say that...
Problem is once a job is posted you have a very short amount of time to apply, because of the number of people applying for the jobs, the recruiters are putting 3 people across when the employer wants 2 people. They are finding perfect people (sometimes) for the roles almost straight away...
So you have to be online the entire time, tailor your CV/Cover letter very quickly and apply. When the market is flooded, rates go down and positions get filled by over qualified testers at bargin rates...
So, in short, it's not good, but if you keep pushing you may get somewhere. I've been looking for 3 weeks now, expected a max of a month to find a job as i'm fairly specialised in my area, but yeah... It's not easy.
