Employer sends me on internal secondment. What are the implications?

Post by Wonderberry » Wed Nov 07, 2018 10:13 am

Good morning,

My employer is sending me on internal inter-company secondment to different service line (but within same UK company I am already with). I assume that since I change the type of job that I do (from audit to consulting), I will need a brand new visa, but employer says that since it's a temporary 2 year secondment, I can remain on my old visa.

My current visa to work in 'audit' has been obtained through COS with job type 2421 Chartered and certified accountants and under job descriptions is explains that this job sits within 'audit'. My question is - is it a valid statement my employer is making that I can make the transfer on old visa and, if not, what are the potential implication of such wrongdoing?

Thank you!

The answer might be in the Tier 2 Sponsor guidance, link below. I saying that, if you are going to be a doing a different job, then a new visa would usually be required. Whose PAYE payroll are you going to be on? I hope this is not a 'day rate consulting' job.
