ILR dilemma

Post by needcos » Mon Nov 19, 2018 2:15 pm

Hi all

We are eligible for applying our ILR by Nov-2019 (Tier2 General 5 years route), my visa valid until 23-Nov-2019 and completes 5 years.

Me and my wife are planning to apply for ILR in the last week of Oct or early Nov (few weeks before visa expiry)

Our 5 year old daughter was born in UK and obviously on dependent visa.

I understand my daughter doesn't need to apply for an ILR...and can directly apply for British passport/citizenship once we(parent) have ILR?

So should I wait until my ILR and apply for my daughter's British citizenship?

What happens if we apply for IRL by post and my daughter's visa expires whilst being processed?

Thanks in advance :)

You can only register your child as British once you have ILR.

No issue if her visa expires as she has an entitlement to register as British.
