Applying with a council accommodation

Post by Ayoubakkaoui » Tue Nov 20, 2018 10:04 pm

Hi
My wife lives with her father in a council accommodation and I wanted to know if that would effect on my visa application because her father is disabled and is claiming disability living allowance and other benefits. The tenancy agreement is on her fathers name and he doesn’t he’s not entitled to pay any rental fees.

Thank u

No affect at all. But make sure you get permission letter from council (no objection letter) saying they are happy for your wife to join your household. Also same letter from main tenant (your father)

InshaAllah this clears it for you.

Hi
I’m just confused because of what I found on The government website can u please explain to me what they mean by this 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
E-ECP.3.4. The applicant must provide evidence that there will be adequate accommodation, without recourse to public funds, for the family, including other family members who are not included in the application but who live in the same household, which the family own or occupy exclusively: accommodation will not be regarded as adequate if-

(a) it is, or will be, overcrowded; or

(b) it contravenes public health regulations.

Thank you for you help

(a) You know how many bedrooms you have and living room. Generally if you both have your own room then there is no overcrowding. Make sure the council and your father confirm in their letter that her coming to join the household will not cause any overcrowding.

(b) Dont worry about public funds, your wife is not even in UK to even ask for public funds. Even if she applies for public funds she will be rejected. You are over-thinking.

Not really. The benefits of the tenancy holder, the father, might be affected. He would need to vist the CAB as and ask them to carry out a benefits calculation.

Yours is nothing like the OP. His father-in-law is on disabitly benefits, while you have declared yourself homeless to the council for yourself and your children and are in temporary accommodation. You also work.
