Q.IIT BTech UK bachelors equivalent validation, English req.

Post by hsmpapplicant123 » Tue Jun 03, 2008 6:17 am

Dear friends: Would much appreciate your inputs!!
I am claiming 30 pts for BTech and 45 pts for income.

My Qs: 1) IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Btech - do I need to prove/get any validation on this degree as equivalent to UK bachelors ?
2) The program was taught in English; MUST I get this original letter from the institute(this can be a headache as I am currently in US).

Thanks in advance for your help..

Have ever checked the PBS (Point Based System) of Tier-1? Answer to your first question lies there.

1. No. Only original degree is sufficient.

2. If this is headache then appear in TOFEL or IELTS. Easy?

It is better to get your degree evaluated by UK for which visit http://www.naric.org.uk

It would be better to submit their assessment letter along with your application if they evaluate you as same 4 year degree. I dought they wount. But worth checking.

Rajesh has answered your english language question.

NO need for NARIC evaluation in your case. I have already replied to your question elsewhere. Regarding English language criteria, the following is a relevant excerpt from the guidance notes:

"C4.21 Points can be claimed where the Self-Assessment Tool confirms that:

• The degree meets or exceeds the equivalent UK level academic
qualification; and,

• The degree was taught to a competent standard of English equivalent to
level C1 on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR); and,
"
