I used the following certificate (language) & got HSMP without any glitch:

Format of the Certificate

To Whom It May Concern:

This is to certify that Mr. XXXXXX, S/o Mr. XXXXXXX , completed his four year Bachelors in Technology (XXXX Engineering Branch) Degree from Indian Institute of Technology - XXXX in 19XX (Exams conducted in March, 19XX; results declared in XXXX). The Degree Certificate was issued on XXXXX.

The medium of instruction for all the courses taught towards completion of the four year Bachelors Degree was English. The student is well versed with and fully conversant in reading, writing, speaking & listening English Language.

push_hsmp,

I also graduated from IIT and applying to HSMP (from US).
1) Did you get this letter mailed to you from the IIT registrar office ?
2) How do I get the UK Bachelors equivalent validation for IIT (is it necessary ?)

I would much appreciate your response.

Thanks much.

1) Did you get this letter mailed to you from the IIT registrar office ? Yes

2) How do I get the UK Bachelors equivalent validation for IIT (is it necessary ?) No - as it is already there on the self assessment tool. Just mention the same in your cover letter. FYI I am providing below the relevant excerpt from the PBS guidance:

Checking qualifications

61. Applicants should check the level of their qualification by
referring to the Self Assessment Tool which can be found on
the Agency website at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk.

62. Where the applicant is unable to find details of their
qualification on the Self Assessment Tool, they may still wish
to claim points for the qualification in question. In these
circumstances applicants should contact UK NARIC directly for
an assessment of the level of their qualification and, where
their qualification is found to be of the required level, obtain a
letter and/or confirmation certificate from UK NARIC. Contact
details for UK NARIC can be found on the following website at
www.naric.org.uk. Please note that there may be a charge for
this service.

I would much appreciate your response.

Thanks much.

Vipul is absolutely right. If your degree is recognised in BIA self assessment tool then you dont need any taught in degree certificate from institution. I'd suugest to check your points in self assessment tool if you can get the points u can qualify. Also include that print out in application.
I got mine approved few days ago. Best of luck!!

Take the print of BIA point calculator if your university is recognized by the 'self assessment tool', you will not need any cover letter.

Evidence required for Bachelor degrees taught in English

Applicants should provide both their original degree certificate and an original letter from the awarding body confirming the course was taught in English.

The original degree certificate should clearly show:
• the date of the award; and
• the title of the award; and
• the name of the awarding institution; and
• their name.

The original letter from the awarding body should show:
• the applicant’s name;
• the qualification obtained;
• the date of award of the degree;
• that the course was taught in English.

Please quote para nos for benefit of others and atleast mention whether you are quoting from HSMP guidance or Tier 1 guidance.

It will easier for others to understand your point.
