Naturalisation of child born outside UK

Post by Poorsaint » Thu Dec 27, 2018 11:14 pm

Hi.

I am planning to apply for naturalisation for my child who was born outside UK.
I have recently been naturalised as british citizen and my wife & child have applied for ILR which hopefully will be approved soon.
My question is that can I apply for naturalisation for my child straightaway as soon as she receives her ILR under section 3(1) or do I have to wait for a year?
I know it is difficult to predict but what are the chances that her naturalisation will be successful?

Many thanks

How old is she?
How long has she lived in the UK?

If she is under 18 and has been living in the UK at least two years, then she may Register under Section 3(1) immediately after getting ILR.

Should be fine to register immediately after she gets ILR.

Does the mother need to be naturalised first for that to happen or would it be ok without that?

Father British and mother and child with ILR should be okay.

However, there is an upcoming court case about the registration fees for children being too high. So, you may want to wait to see if the courts will reduce these fees.

For the sake of her naturalisation application, do I need to provide any other documents apart from her birth certificate (from outside UK), our marriage certificate (from outside UK),her ILR, my British passport???

Vinny,

Is there any update on this court case?

Many thanks
