Im EU citizen, living here for 7 years now, im registered permanent resident. My wife has Eufam stamp4 for 5 years, she is here for 1 year 9 months now, we are both full time working.
Im thinking to get Irish citizenship so she would be able to apply as well after 3 years of being here, instead of the normal 5.
Any ideas is it worth it not worth it?
We can gain 2 years, but i think they would revoke the eufam card and then we have to apply for a normal stamp 4, she is visa required to every EU country, so now we really enjoy the hassle free travel with the eufam card. On a normal stamp4 she needs schengen visa and re-entry irish visa (i want to minimize this period, cause we had enough of applying for visas), and the hassle of applying for stamp4....
Would they make it a hassle to give her stamp 4, after being here for lets say 2.5 years on eufam? Would there be any time that she would loose out of work? i mean if they revoke the eufam card (cause i will become IRish, so i cannot use eu treaty rights anymore) but the new stamp 4 is still pending? is it possible scenario?
What is the typical time frame to accept citizenship application? I heard it is 18 months now?
