will DUI conviction affect my Indefinite leave to remain application

Post by lordtutu » Tue Mar 20, 2018 11:51 am

Hello everyone.

Im due to apply for ILR next year but unfortunately was convicted of a drink driving offence earlier this year and was fined and banned from driving for 17 months
im currently on a spouse visa

I intend to declare this on my application, but will

* Will i be rejected for ILR?
* Is there an alternative if they were to reject his ILR request?
* Is there any leeway?

This is his first and only offence i have on my record

Please advise accordingly ASAP.

Very much appreciated :D

Yes. Your conviction must be spent for a full 24 months before you can apply for ILR.
* Is there an alternative if they were to reject his ILR request?
Extend your current visa again.
* Is there any leeway?
No there isn't and don't drink and drive.

Yes. Your conviction must be spent for a full 24 months before you can apply for ILR.

Kindly clarify if this means i have to wait for 24 months after conviction before i can apply

Yes, FLR(M) assuming you have a spouse of settled person visa or PBS Dependent if that is the route you are on.
