Work on fiancé visa?

Post by dillonuw » Fri Jan 11, 2019 2:04 pm

Hello there,
I was finally approved for a proposed civil partnership visa back in December and I am now in the planning stages of moving to the UK. One thing that I am confused about, however: the visa given to me says "Work Permitted, No Public Funds."

I was under the assumption that visa holders cannot work on fiancé or proposed partner visas until they apply for and receive an FLR(M) visa. Has something changed? Does this line of text on my visa mean that I am free to apply for jobs and work in the UK while we await the switch to FLR(M)?

Thanks!

How long is your visa valid for??

If it is only valid for 6 months, then no, you cannot work. Nothing has changed in this regard.

It is valid for 6 months.

Do I need to contact anybody to get the text corrected or just stay quiet until after the ceremony and we start going for FLR(M)?

Getting it corrected will likely cause a delay, so entirely up to you. Should be fine to wait till you apply for your next visa.

Getting caught up in another storm of bureaucracy over a single line of text is not something I want to do, so I will keep hushed.

Thanks immensely for the help. 8)
