Here's the update to my partner's extension application (Initial HSMP approval: March 2006):
FLR application received: 02-May-08
Payment deducted: 02-May-08
Documents returned: 11-Jun-08
FLR approved: 03-Jun-08

Endorsements
Tier 1 FLR issued: 09-Jun-08
Tier 1 FLR valid until: 03-Jun-11

Had referred to JR in the cover letter, but included all necessary evidence (please see page 1) to qualify under Tier 1.

Hope this helps.

No, I didn't.

And personally, I think it is a foolish thing to do. What is a CW going to do if you send him a copy - read it ??? A reference to the JR in the cover letter citing case number etc. should be more than sufficient. But as I said, this is a personal opinion.

Congrats sushdmehta..

Just a quick question, what was expiry date for your initial visa? New visa started from 09/06/2008?

Just want to know that is there any gap in your visas as you submitted application well in time..

Thanks,
JD

The initial leave to remain was valid until 11-May and yes, the isssue date on the new endorsement shows 09-Jun.

But this *gap* shouldn't be a problem at any stage since the grant of FLR confirms that the application was received in time (before expiry of current leave). Else, BIA will refuse application straight away anyway - law doesn't allow you to apply after expiry of current leave.

So, don't see a reason to worry! What's on your mind?

I've read on the forum that some ppl having problems at the time of ILR because of gaps in visas but as far as you maintain proofs (like HO reference no letter and receipt for post) for submitting your FLR well in time, it should be OK.

So, in all likelihood you really have no idea of the reason behind those gaps in ILR cases you have seen on the board. Could be other reasons than just a gap becuase of difference between expiry and issue dates??

And by the way, BIA maintains your immigration history so they have all records of when an application was made and decided, or if there was a gap between visas. What they do not have are record of your absences when your travel abroad for holidays / trips (required on ILR form). So hope you are not confusing between the two.

Anyhow, this is standard procedure being followed by BIA now and I am sure they have their reasons. As I said before, can't worry without a reason.

Guys,

I applied for FLR(curently in WP) within UK with valid HSMP approval letter dated Jan 2008.

I sent the relevant docs on may 14th 2008 & got the ref. number on 16th May 2008.

The ackowledgement letter which came to my home with ref. no. quoted that the applciation will be procesed in 28 days and if i don hear anything within this time i can contact the HO.

today i called the HO and came to know that the procsg time for FLR with HSMP approval letter is 10 weeks.

does anyone have idea about this??

Also i have booked my tickets for a 2 week holiday to india from july 25th.I am not sure if i can get the FLR within that, a bit confused now..

seniors can you help please??

Well, yours is not an extension application. It is an initial entry to Tier 1 based on HSMP approval. Browse through this discussion for user-posted time lines for initial Tier 1 applications.

10 weeks is the standard response from UKBA, irrespective of the kind of Tier 1 application it might be. But doesn't necessarily mean that it will take that much time for each application.

There is no HSMP endorsement anymore. HSMP scheme died of old age in UK on 29-Feb.

It is Tier 1 (General) endorsement on the passport when you apply for HSMP extension (for both pre- and post-Dec 06 HSMP approvals) .... at least for now. I cannot say if UKBA will come up with something new in response to JR and re-introduce HSMP endorsements.

If this is an extension application (your current HSMP visa is nearing expiry and you have applied for extension of leave to remain), then you have to pay 750 pounds and not 350 pounds. See this.
