VISITOR VISA - MULTIPLE ENTRY

Post by suresh.k.dasari » Sat Feb 23, 2019 12:01 pm

Hi All

A quick question:

Is there a CAP on how many times can someone travel to UK on a 2 year Visitor Visa.

No doubt, I am sure that no visit should exceed more than 180 days at a stretch. But, the question is "if someone who visited UK returns to India within 180 days and then immediately travel back to UK".

Thanks in advance
Suresh

They cannot spend more time in the UK in a 12 month period than they spend in their home country, ie 180 days per 12 months. You cannot use the visa to circumvent the immigration rules to live/reside in the UK.

They risk being denied entry and their visa being cancelled.

How does this work in the below example scenarios if a visitor is granted 6 months or 2 years visa respectively, please?

6 months visa: A visitor visa is granted for 6 months from June - Nov. visitor arrived in June and left in August. How soon they can apply for a visa again and visit?

2 years visit visa or 5 years: Granted visa from June 2019 to June 2021 (if 2 years given). The visitor arrived in June and left in August. How soon they can return again?

If the visitor visa is multiple entry the visitor can come back whenever he/she wants as long as the visa is valid. There is no restrictions on that. However, it is common sense if a visitor was granted a 2 year visa and he visited for 4 months and want to come back just after 1 month for another 3 months (Immigration Officer at the airport will ask questions). There is no restriction tho as long you dont exceed 6 months on one entry and no restriction on coming back after 1 day or 1 month as long you have legitimate reason to convince the IO. Note, if this becomes a routine that the visitor is spending large amounts of time on every visit like 3/4 months or more and comimg back frequently they wil definitely ask additional questions.
