How long does it take to complete the Reference check?

Post by netacct » Mon Jun 02, 2008 12:21 pm

Hi All,

Any idea, how long it would take to complete the reference check and other formalities for any big company?

normally between 1-4 weeks depending upon the references that you've included (in-country or outside UK).

If it was simple email request then less than a week or perhaps depending upon the availability of the person you've put as reference.

Mine got back in 1-2 week's time as one was here in the UK and the other was in the UAE.

Just contacted the company.
Unfortunately, its my previous employer who is delaying and my client manager.

Once you leave, no one bothers about you

True. For me it takes around 1 week and some reminders to get the references from india.

Is reference check only for Permanent job or is it required for contract jobs as well?

Oh is it?
But contractors keep changing jobs after 3 or 6 months.
Not everyone may give you good reference in last 5 years for whatever reason? What if you leave your current job quickly if you are not happy with work or whatever?

This thing really worries me.

Hi

I don't know as this is my first contract and previously I was working as a permanent employee and so there is no issues for the refrences from last employer.

Once I will finish this contract(after three months) then I will come to know how things will proceed.
