Can I apply Naturalisation for my Daughter

Post by dharmavaramcr » Sat Mar 02, 2019 6:45 pm

HI All,

I have got my British Passport in the 2018 and recently my wife got ILR in FEB'2019 (through Tier -1 Dependent). At the moment my child (Born in INDIA) is on Tier-1 Dependent which is due to expiry in the month of Sep'2019. But her Indian passport is about to expiry in the month of June'2019.

Can I apply for Naturalisation for my Daughter? She has been with us in UK since 2014.

Children born abroad are expected to hold ILR before they qualify for citizenship.

How old is the child?

Why did you not include her with your wifes' ILR applictaion??

She is 5 years old. She has been living with me since Nov' 2014

Why did you not include her with your wifes' ILR applictaion??
I wanted to apply Naturalisation through MN1 Guide lines as below:

"Registration at the Home Secretary’s discretion – Section 3(1)
application
Children born abroad to parents who are applying for British citizenship

Where one or both parents are applying for British citizenship they may apply for one
or more children who are not automatically British at birth (see “Automatic acquisition
of British citizenship” above) to be registered as British citizens as part of a “family
application”. Children in this category will be considered at the Home Secretary’s
discretion and will usually be registered only
if both the parents are granted or already
hold British citizenship, or if one parent holds British citizenship and the other is
settled in the UK."

Could you please guide us on the above lines? Thank you.
