Tier 2 Extension Short 5 Yrs Towards ILR

Post by bidibudi » Fri Mar 22, 2019 2:51 pm

Hello House and Experts,

Apologies if this question is taking us back the tread.
my question is follows

my wife port of entry was 4 months short of my initial tier 2 visa i.e i have been in the UK 4 months before they joined me.

we are getting ready to apply for our extension though still waiting for COS

Can i apply notify home office of my dependent number of days short(120 days) of 5 yrs and that to be added on to my dependent next visa to enable my dependent complete 5 yrs period on the second visa.

My extension now is for only 2 yrs as i have been on 3 yrs tier 2 previously.3+2 = 5yrs
and i want my dependent issue for 2 yrs and 4 months
please how is the possibility of this.

No you can't. Your dependent visa will be issued for the same duration and with the same expiry date as yours.

If you want a longer visa, you BOTH should apply for 3 years with a CoS for 3 years in your case.

Thank you so much for your quick response

i should choose a start date example 3rd May 2019 - 2nd May 2022 ? up to 3 yrs
and can then apply for ILR as soon as they are up to 5 yrs ?

that will mean 3 yrs IHS not too bad compare to what will become in this uncertainty.
Wont i be over staying cos i will be 5 yrs and four (4) months
or i will apply for ILR ahead of them.

regards.

So again, as already advised in your other topic about CoS, you need a 3 year CoS and apply for a 3 year visa etc.

You cannot apply for a 3 year visa if you have a 2 year CoS.

i can ask them to issue me a COS up to 3yrs if that is the case?

Yes, you need to speak to your sponsor.

Thank so much
i will speak to them and let them know i will still be needing a 3yrs COS and explain the ordeal to them.
i believe this wont come with an additional cost requesting 3 yrs instead of 2 yrs?

Please advice am trying to make savings here but not sure I may be doing the right thing
Is it wise I request a COS to have a start date and end date totalling 2yrs and 6 months so I can save little on IHS
Since my dependent will be 5 yrs before the 2yrs and 6months expire ?

You will pay the same for 2 years and 6 months as 3 years so what is the point?

You’ll pay for a whole year if your application includes part of a year that is more than 6 months.

You would have to ask for your COS to be 2 years 5 months
