Student ---To--> Tier1 (with HSMP Appr Letter)

Post by GIMS » Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:31 pm

Hi,

I have just arrived in the UK on a self-sponsored PhD student visa for 3 years. But I also have a HSMP Initial Application that has not been decided yet. The HSMP Application was made in my home country before coming here but due to HSMP delays and some circumstances I could not wait for the decision.

So my question is, IS IT POSSIBLE TO SWITCH FROM STUDENT TO TIER 1 IF THE HSMP IS APPROVED?

Thank You.

You will need to apply for EC from the country from where you applied for HSMP.

conti...

1. When the Tier 1 is introduced to all countries (probably on 30 June 2008) will it be possible to apply for Tier 1 in UK with an HSMP Approval Letter (applied end March and probably will be received August)?

2. Also would it be possible to make a full application for Tier 1?

At present am on a student visa up 2011 on a PhD course and still looking at proposals as research planning. So I need to know if I can switch when the Tier 1 is worldwide or if this scenario is effectively the same as Working Holiday Visa where you may not switch in country.

Regards
GIMS.

The switching rules changed when Tier 1 (General) launched, students need not complete their course in order to switch. No need to go home to do it.

Thanks a lot WoodieG. I already have at least 800 quid for 12 months but below 2800 so I will just wait for the Tier 1. Hope it wont get flooded. Many Thanks.
