Quick question to those who are on Tier 2

Post by tbbcuk » Fri Mar 29, 2019 9:05 am

Our company has employed a staff abroad and Tier 2 was approved few days ago.
We need her to work asap and she is ready to fly to the UK.
For a sudden, HR said to my manager that T2 offical need her visa to be checked by someone (not sure who) once she arrives UK, which may take 3 weeks to complete. It really pizzles us what is it all about, we need her urgently for a role. Is it not sufficient my manager check the visa herself?
Anyone can give me some light of what happen?

Nonsense.

She enters the UK on her initial 30 day visa as normal and gets stamped in by the IO.

Within 10 days of arriving, she collects her BRP from the nominated Post Office with her passport. This all needs to be provided to HR as proof of right to work.

Nothing else that needs to be done.

Note that she can only enter the UK from the date her initial 30 day visa is valid from etc.

What was the start date for the job specified on her CoS?

Thanks for the reply cr001

Her start date is 1 april 19
You mentioned stamped by IO, what is IO?
So does it mean she must collect BRP from post office before she can start working? Can she start to work for us right away once arrives the uk?

I am really not sure what those 'check' are all about, may find out more later, there are many miscommuication between departments.

Immigration Officer at the airport.

She can start working once she arrives. The BRP is the rest of her visa validity. Note that her BRP will likely have her NI printed on, which she needs to be able to work.
