Next steps after applying for spouse visa extension online

Hi,

I need to apply for spouse visa extension for my wife.she arrived in UK on 30 Aug 2016 and her visa is due to expire on 12 may 2019.

Please can someone confirm when can I apply for extension
Date of entry in UK - 30/08/2016
Date of visa expiry - 12/05/2019

28 days before the current visa expires?
or 28 days before 30 months of arriving in UK?

I think you can apply for your extension at anytime up to expiry date of your visa.

Definitely not earlier than Casa has advised as you could end up with a shortfall on the overall 5 year required for ILR, because the extension is for 2.5 years only.

When filling spouse visa extension online-there is question about if the applicant was known by some other name then this given name-
so after marriage,the surname was changed for my wife but the given name remained the same- shall I write the old name with surname for that question please?

Hi,
I have applied for spouse visa extension last weekend.
I have now been asked to go to UKVCAS website and book an appointment o give bio metrics.
I just wanted to understand how this whole process works and what are the next steps.
Will the UKVCAS be only taking biometrics?
will they be checking my documents?
will they be scanning and uploading the documents?
when will the application for extension is considered by home office-after biometric or before?
will I receive any letter or email about my application being considered asmy visa ia finishing soon?
will I be legal even after my visa expires as the application for extension is with home office?
do they need any new passport size pictures for this spouse visa extension?
