IHS - Payment Tier 2 General

Post by SHK8180 » Sun Jun 17, 2018 7:18 am

Hi Friends,

My wife is applying for Tier 2 General from home country( Outside UK) and submitted the VISA application on 14th June.

Based on the new rules i know that per year 200£ is the IHS surcharge which we need to pay to UK govt. As she is applying for 5 years visa she need to pay 200£ X 5 =1000 £ is what my understanding is.

She completed her VISA application and there was a section which says is your spouse living in UK then provide his/her IHS reference number.

Myself(Husband) living in UK currently so she gave my IHS number and then continued and surprised to see the IHS amount quoted for her 5 year application as currency -£"0.00" and generated the IHS number for her. further clicked continue she was routed to VISA fees payment gateway and application slot booked.

Question 1: Why did IHS show Zero?
Question 2: Do we need to ignore and appear for VISA slot( biometric)
Question 3: Do we still need to pay IHS fees if yes how will we know the exact amount and where to pay?

Please guide me on the above if any one of you have faced similar issue.

Are you sure you didn't misread the question? I don't think they will ask for main Tier 2 holder's IHS reference number but the spouse applying for the dependent visa. I am not sure if the system has changed, but I want to believe that your wife was supposed to make IHS payment and then use her IHS reference number and not yours.
You might need to wait for people who have gone through a similar situation to respond to you here. I don't think there's IHS exemption for Tier 2 dependents.
I am not a lawyer and do not claim to be one. All my comments here are based on my opinions, experience and interpretation of the appropriate UKVI guidance documents and immigration rules.

Even I am confused :(
Although she is applying Tier 2 as main applicant and I am in UK on ict , there was a point which asked in ihs do you have spouse in UK - she responded yes and it asked share their ihs and once she gave those details her ihs got generated with £0.00.

If she's applying for Tier 2 main applicant, then her application is not connected to your ICT in any way. she will need to pay the IHS. You will only be connected to her if you are planning to become her dependent in the future. she shouldn't have entered your IHS reference number.

What visa category have you selected in the VISA application.

As a Tier 2 G main applicant, YOUR details are irrelevant and you should NOT be putting your info in etc.

Hi,

I am exactly in the same situation as @SHK8180. While paying for IHS there is a question "Are you applying to join or remain with a person already in the UK?(You don't need to add this person's details if they are a UK or EEA citizen.)".

There is an Add person button, when you click this it asks for IHS number of that person and the visa expiry date.

My husband is in UK on Tier 2 ICT visa.

My question is:
Should I add my husbands details for this question?
