Tier 2 dependant visa for newborn in UK

Post by Shipporah » Wed May 01, 2019 9:55 am

Dear team,

We are having a baby in Aug 2019 and we are planning to travel to India in December. We are aware we should apply for a visa for the baby. But we are not sure how much the total cost for a visa would be. Some say it will be around £4000. I checked the internet and no definite answers.

My husband is in tier 2 general visa. And I'm in tier 2 dependant. We are eligible for ILR in October 2021. What is the general fee for tier 2 dependant visa for newborn in UK and how much is the IHS surcharge? How much is the total amount we should expect to pay ?

I would really appreciate if you could help me with some information. Thank you.

Visa fees below, it depends on the length of your CoS for your current visa.

https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general

IHS is £400 per year.

Thank you very much.

The total length of CoS for our current tier 2 visa is 5 years. By the time we apply for the dependant visa, we will have 2 more years left.
So we will be apply for 2 years or 5 years ?

For form will ask for your CoS length and you will need to put the details accurately.

But we will have to apply for 2 years or 5 years ?

Our total visa period is 5 years from 2016-2021
When we apply for dependant visa, the tier 2 visa left will be 2 more years.

Thank you very much
