registration for tax

Post by reachme20081 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:27 pm

Hi

I am a permanent employee of a company in UK on the company work permit. As usual my tax gets deducted from the salary and a P60 form is issued to me.As usual I also have an NI number.

Now I want to simultaneouly do some consulting work to boost my income to score earnings points. My question is "Do I need a separate registration with HMRC to pay tax for consulting related income"

Some one please reply

In short, yes. See HMRC website where you can find relevant information on starting a business. Try searching the forum for information already available on the forum.

Also, appreciate if you post queries in the relevant discussion forum. You will have a higher probability of responses to such non-HSMP / Tier 1 queries here or here.
