Does overstaying affect the chance to get ILR?

Post by landrover8032 » Fri May 03, 2019 11:49 pm

Hi there,

I'm in Tier 2 visa and plan to apply for ILR next year. However, 6 years ago, I used to overstay 2 months (unintended) which led to 1 year ban of applying for visa (after that ban I reapplied Tier 2 and got back to the UK btw).

Does that overstaying affect the chance to get ILR? I heard that breaking the immigration law is one of the grounds for refusal but not sure if it applies in my case.

Many thanks.

It should not if it did not happen in the last 5 years.

Many thanks. Can you refer me to any law/guidance/case about that please?
