Spouse Visa- Carer Allowance

Post by Ellam123 » Thu Apr 04, 2019 2:53 am

Hello Everyone, this might be a bit long so please bare with me and I appreciate your time in reading and giving me your opinion.

My husband and I have been married for 4.5 years. After marriage I went abroad and lived with my husband. Last year we had a baby (she's now 1 year) who has a heart condition and will be examined for a transplant.

As I have no family for support I moved back to my family home and would like to call my husband over to settle and for support.

My only concern is I won't be able to meet the financial criteria as I don't work. However, my baby is NG fed as she wasn't taking enough milk therefore she requires special care (feeding every 3 hours throughout 24 hours, medications for reflux, heart, vitamins Etc.).

As I've been busy with appointments I've not had time to apply for carers allowance but have been told I am entitled to possibly £54 a week on top of her child benefit and tax credit.

I also suffer from the same heart condition which makes it difficult for me to do much around the house let alone work.

Could anyone here please help me out and advise me what the best thing to do would be? How can I successfully call my husband? Eagerly awaiting your responses. Thank You So Much in advance.

Hello,
I am in a similar situation but no child.

You will have to find a part time job if you want to sponsor your spouse. You cannot apply for your spouse solely on the basis of carers allowance. The application will be refused on the basis that on £64 (approx) per week you cannot both yourself and husband and also a child.

A couple with no children income support rate is £114.85. It's slightly more if you have a child/children but I can't find this information.

Child Benefit and Tax credits do not count as income for spouse visa applications, neither does carer's allowance. CA only allows you to be exempt from the £18,600 requirement.

You will need to get a job that pays £80-100 per week to apply for your spouse.
