We applied for extension in March and received the documents today with a letter stating that originals have been scanned and recorded digitally BUT passport is retained under section 17 of Asylum & Immigration Act 2004. Does anyone know what it means? I’m bit puzzled why they retained the passport whereas a BRP is usually issued and no visa is pasted on the passport.
I know now a days they usually scan the papers and return the original but not sure if they keep the passport until decision is taken.
