Experience of scanning documents new procedure

Post by Humairah » Thu May 09, 2019 3:47 pm

Hello everyone,

After a very stressful day yesterday I decided to post about my experience at VFS global for scanning supporting documents to Sheffield. So we got there for around 12:30, you have to wait until your number is called for someone to scan your documents. Your documents should have barcode separators and all should be photocopied, they do not accept originals! So at 4:00pm we were still waiting and they said the system had broken down which was frustrating as they were phoning all kinds of people panicking about the situation which made me panic! At 6:00 they asked all remaining people to pay and they would call us when they got updated and sent.
So as soon as we left the centre and they Locked the doors I received a phone call to say they have been sent, but due to the big crash in the system I was unsure as to wether they really were sent or not.
I am so worried because my brother in law heard them on the phone saying they had mixed everyone’s documents up
Also if anyone has been through this, is there some sort of email confirmation we would receive from the home office to confirm they have received the documents?

Thank you

That sounds awful.

When I went a few weeks ago, I wasn’t sure they they had sent it either as I didn’t receive an email confirmation but I went back and they said it was done.

Why do you think the documents are all mixed up? I don’t think that would be the case, they know how important it is to keep them separate .. try not to worry too much.

It’s such a stressful process having it all in someone else’s hands trusting them to send it off! I keep asking my spouse to check for emails but he hasn’t heard anything yet.

Well because they was a huge system breakdown and the person they were on the phone to they said everything’s mixed up! Which made us all panic. Some people found it funny how unorganised they were and how the people working there didn’t know what to do they really didn’t know how to work their own system. So stressed 😭

For in country applications the applicants shouldn't miss the chance of self scanning & uploading prior to their appointment because system breaking down, computer virus, shortage of staff are very common problems at almost all service providing centres. Also on many occasions they hired agency staff who are not sufficiently trained.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hey,

I did mine on Tuesday in London.

I arrived at 10:30 and had to wait for 2 people in front of me.

Man helped me arrange them.

Then took them and charged me an additional £20 for a courier to send them back. He said this is the procedure.

They arrived home today.

As spouse visa has no option to self upload, you can't say no haha.

Oh I had to wait there, the scanning only took about 5mins itself but it was the uploading process they said was holding everyone up and taking a long time! But they only had one computer and one scanner for everyone!

Try not to worry! I know it’s hard :(
Not everyone gets an email stating that their application is currently being processed, some do.

I got mine after 3 weeks. I hope you get an email soon.
