child benefit and Maternity allowance on a spouse visa

Hi everyone

I am a british citizen and my wife has spouse visa (extended to second half in January, but not yet received). Any ideas why taking so long? Can i apply for child benefit without affecting my wife future ILR application? I been told that Maternity allowance is not public fund, is that ture that it will not affect her future ILR application? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yes you can apply for Maternity Allowance, it will not affect her extension/ILR. Maternity is not a public benefit.
