Daughter passport - Tier2 > ILR

Post by singhswat » Thu May 16, 2019 11:31 am

Hi,

My daughter was born in November -2017 at this point in time I was on Tier 2 general Visa. We have a birth registration certificate that we get from local council / registration.
We didn't make her Indian passport as we were not planning to travel anywhere outside country.

As of now I have ILR, so can I directly apply for here UK passport as we planning to travel to India.

Can anyone help me out with the possibilities/ options on the table.
- do I need to apply for here Indian passport first?
- Can I directly apply for her UK passport directly?
- Do i need to first go through the naturalization process and then go for passport?
- URL / Links for reference or to start the process.

Also a estimated - timescale for this.

Thanks for the help

Cheers
Swat

No she cannot as she is not a British citizen yet and only a British citizen can apply for a British passport.

You have to register her as British first on form MN1. Once she is registered and you have the certificate, only then can you apply for a British passport.

Not necessary, as the baby born in UK before your ILR would be eligible for Naturalization and passport after you got ILR

- Can I directly apply for her UK passport directly?
No; you have to apply for naturalisation first and register baby as british citizen. it takes usually 2-3 months and £1033 fee.

- Do i need to first go through the naturalization process and then go for passport?
Corrrect. using MN1 Form
