I would like to know software engineer is ok for professional referee in naturalisation application

its not explicitly on the list. Mainly the professional referee needs to be registered with/accountable to some external body. If he/she is a chartered software engineer then it should be fine.

If the software engineer is at least supervisory level it is generally accepted. I know as a friend got his.
