CAT B variable income

Post by TODMATT » Thu Jun 06, 2019 11:46 am

Dear experts,

Can someone correct my understanding of CAT B variable income.

A friend of mine has been with his current employer for the past 1 and half but his income varies each month as some months he earn £800 and other months he earns 2000. He wants to apply using CAT B instead of CAT A

Does he follow the condition of CAT B
1. where he must be currently be earning 18,600 or more
2. where he must have earned 18,600 in the previous 12 months?

He will provide 12 months payslips.

Is it correct to add all the payslips for the whole year together and see if it is equal to 18,600? for the second condition and for the first condition, does he need to use the non salaried formula by taking his last 6 months wages and divide it by 6 multiply by 12 to get his current gross annual salary is this correct?
