3 year Rule As Spouse Of BC

Post by nut_cracker18 » Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:10 pm

Hello

It might sound a silly question but i would to clarify rather than making a costly mistake

My wife recently got ILR, She had been my dependent for full 5 years.
I Naturalised as BC in 2017.
My question is if my wife is qualified to apply for naturalization without waiting for another 12 months under rule of 3 yr as wife of BC although I have not been BC for full 3 years? As mentioned i got BC in 2017 which means i have not been BC for 3 years yet?

A prompt advise by one of the moderators will be much appreciated

Yes she can apply if she meets the 3 year requirements, including the physically present 3 years ago one.

There is no requirement that spouse must have been British for 3 years. You simply need to be British at the time she applies, even if you got citizenship 1 week ago.
