Stamp 4 renewals for spouse and son

Hi jsut wanted to know that my wife's stamp 4 expiring soon (spouse of irish citizen) and just wondering do we really need to bring son he is 9 years and he came to Ireland at the same time as my wife i know minors don't get registration or gnib card but can we leave him in school instead. And just my wife can go for her Renewals? Thankyou
Do gnib add minors in her mother's file in their system how does it work?
