** Could applying Universal Credit mess with spouse visa?***

Post by Danra » Fri Jun 28, 2019 12:07 am

My British sponsor is under carer receipt. She receives carer allowance therefore exempt from meeting £18600 criteria.
But according to HO rules she must show adequate maintenance which is £240 per week (with a child)
There is no way she can make £240 per week without having no other support.

Could sponsor claim universal credit to meet the ''adequate maintenance''. Would it affect her spouse's visa? Or Is there any other way she can make up to £240 (After expenses i.e rent). Without Home Office refusing the visa saying that sponsor is being burden by claiming public funds.

Much obliged for help :)
