IELTS/English Exam for Tier 2 Dependant Visa

Hi!

We are about to process a Tier 2 Dependant Visa for my husband and Im a little confused if he should take the IELTS Exam or any English exam for that matter. Someone told me her husband did take an exam but a few others told me its not necessary.

Would appreciate any input!

Not required for PBS Dependent visa.
Someone told me her husband did take an exam but a few others told me its not necessary.
Different visas have different requirements. Best not to listen to others and follow the HO website and guidance only.
