PBS dependent wrong application/fee!!

Post by damnmad » Sun Jan 13, 2019 9:27 pm

Hello all,

I'm on ILR from April 2018.

My wife's visa is valid till May 5th 2019.

With the news about IHS fee going up (doubled), we thought of taking advantage by applying for early extension.

So we paid £1200 IHS based on my ILR on 8th Jan 2019, if we have waited for another day, it would've been £2400, even I get half of it refunded, still that's a lot to stake!

Coming to the issue now, during this rush or out of brain fade moment, I've selected 'Yes' for the below question; (still don't know why!!)

"Is Mr xxxxxxxxxx's work in a shortage occupation?" - Yes

Paid £482 (should've realised while looking at the fee amount, BUT), realised later that I need to pay £630

Haven't booked any appointment, want to find what are my options here?

I have only paid fee last night, can I call my credit card company to cancel that transaction? don't know what happens after that!!

or there are any other options to rectify this mistake.

Can someone please shed some light here.

Thanks.
Never mind!!!

HO will likely ask you to pay the fee difference. Include a covering not explaining.

Also, by paying Ihs on the 8th, you have in fact paid the increased amount for a 3 year visa. Had you paid on the 7th, it would have only been £200 per year, ie £600.

Not sure where you get the £2400 figure from?

Thanks for the reply.

I heard that option about asking to pay the difference! Should we include a covering note when my wife goes for biometrics? (we opted for the new process).

Regarding IHS fee; fee changes started from 9th January, because I'm on ILR and based on my ILR expiry date (31st 1Dec 2024) they have asked us to pay £1200 for 6 years (hoping I get £600 refunded).

I have double checked now, based on the above expiry date, it is asking to pay £2400

You should have put your ILR expiry date 3 years ahead to get the correct IHS Fee of £600.

Oh! my bad, you are absolutely right, just double checked, I've in fact paid on 7th only!

I thought of changing the date, but hesitated in the end for some reason, but caught up in another mess :D

BTW regarding asking for paying the difference, how long does that process normally take? any rough idea?
Never mind!!!

No idea, few days or a week or so. But definitely explain in a covering letter and upload it with all the other documents and insist that Sopra scan in it otherwise they likely won't.

Thanks for the reply,

Once you have paid the difference of the fee, how long did you waited for the decision ?

Thanks
