IELTS for naturalisation

Post by Alf88 » Tue Jul 23, 2019 2:26 pm

Hi All,

I passed with 6.5 the IELTS test in 2013, could I use it as knowledge of Language proof for the British Naturalisation Application?

Thanks in advance for your replies

What is your current nationality?

Do you hold ILR under the UK Immigration rules or PR under the EEA rules or Settled Status under Appendix EU and when did you obtain settled status?

You need a current test that has not expired, minimum level IELTS English B1 and must be from a test provider on the current HO approved list.

You also need Life in the UK test.

Therefore, an IELTS qualification older more than 2 years is not valid?

They usually expire and are only valid for 2 years. An expired test can only be used IF it was accepted in a previous immigration application, which obviously does not apply to EU citizens, AND is still on the list of approved tests.

Hi I’m also Italian from Rome. If you have a 6.5 then that’s not even the correct test. You need to take the B1 IELTS Life Skills and it’s just “pass” or “fail”. That’s the one recognised for immigration (for IELTS), there are other tests too. If you go to the home office website they’ll give you the list.
