Surname change on BRP (Tier 2 company sponsored)

Post by Jann » Thu Jul 25, 2019 1:27 pm

I am applying for change of surname (after divorce) on BRP (Tier 2 - General). I have all
the related documents and filled in the right form for updating BRP. I have
below questions:

1. Has the UKVI stopped the priority service at £610 and now have only
super priority at £800?
2. When I come to the payment page I get only two payment options £180.20
(8 weeks) and super priority (£980.20 all together) is that right?
3. Is the appointment selection available only after paying the fees?
4. Has anybody applied through the normal 8 weeks option recently and can
share experience? want to avoid spending so much just for updating my BRP.

Any guidance will be appreciated, I thought updating the surname will be
easy and inexpensive affair but apparently its not.

TIA

Yes, it changed in November last year from the Premium service centres to the outsourced UKCVAS Sopra Steria service.
2. When I come to the payment page I get only two payment options £180.20
(8 weeks) and super priority (£980.20 all together) is that right?
Yes, those are the only options you have now.
3. Is the appointment selection available only after paying the fees?
Yes.
4. Has anybody applied through the normal 8 weeks option recently and can
share experience? want to avoid spending so much just for updating my BRP.
Many wait longer than 8 weeks and it can take up to 6 months.

Thanks so much for reply. I think the best option is go through priority than the long wait.

One last question would be supporting documents: will my new passport, divorce decree (from India), bank statement in new name and letter from GP (new name) enough. All the documents have my current address?

It is a very simple process but with UKVI want to be double sure.
