Naturalisation & University Application after ILR (6-Year DLR route)

Post by asha-hussain » Thu Jul 25, 2019 6:14 pm

My best wishes and gratitude to all especially senior members.

I have following questions and request the seniors to shade some light:
I was granted ILR (settlement) after 6 Years of discretionary leave.

When can I apply for naturalisation?

Do I need to pass knowledge of language and life in the UK and is there any validity attached to this test?

I’d like to apply to university, do I need to pay the full fees or can I apply for student finance or loan etc.?

Many thanks

Depends when you got ilr and if you are married to a British citizen.

Yes, English B1 from an ho approved test provider and liuk. English test has a 2 year validity and liuk doesn't expire.

You can apply for student finance.

You then need to wait 12 full months on ilr. Your children being British is irrelevant.

You will also have to meet the good character requirement.

You can only apply as soon as you get ilr if you are married to a British citizen.

So you don't qualify if you are not married to a British citizen and will have to wait 12 months on ilr.
