Question regarding bringing spouse to UK for a British citizen

Hi everyone,

I am in a confused situation now. I am due to getting married in November, and I currently have a 31k salary job and I am a British citizen. However, the problem now is, i got a PhD studentship offered, which i always wanted to do since I am in the science field and i need PhD to go up the scale. The PhD will be starting in 1 month time and the stipend is £17500 per year (this is tax free). My question is am i able to bring my spouse with this financial background? I cannot find this information anywhere else. If i really can't do anything about this, I will drop the PhD, and stay on my job until marriage. I would really appreciate any advice and help.
