Tier1 Query - Name exactly as in Passport?

Post by tulipz » Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:57 am

Hi,
Is it necessary to have the name in payslips and bank statements exactly as in passport?

For Eg:

Name in Passport:
First name Hari Ram
Middle Name: Prakash
Family Name : Thakur

Name on Payslips: Hari Ram Thakur

Name on Bank Statements: Hari Ram Thakur

Name on Educational Docs: Hari Ram Prakash Thakur

Will this create a prob? If yes, what can be done?

Please advise...

It should not be a problem. But, it all depends on the particular Caseworker who will work on your application.

Do not worry and go ahead with your application.

hi Rajesh, thanks for the reply :)

I just looked at the bank statements and it shows the name as Hari Ram P Thakur. Also, It has the company's name clearly mentioned for salary deposits.

So, hopefully this wont be a problem... :)

I don't think a missing/abbreviated "middle name" on payslips and bank statement should be a cause of worry.

But it would be better is some one who has successfully applied with "same situation" (i.e. missing/abbreviated "middle name" on some docs) can confirm the above fact.

AFAIK, all companies/banks in UK abbreviate your first name and middle name and only print your surname in the docs. For example: Mr. H P Thakur.

Also in some cases, companies do remove the middle name on payslips, for example: Mr. H Thakur.

Any one has had a problem in any application with abbreviated names?

Comments welcome...

As suggested by another member of this forum, this shouldn't be a problem, still just to play safe, add a note regarding this in your application cover letter.

See , in the Tier 1 Form, there is an option to mention, "in which all other names you are known as".
I think you can put the other name in that field.

I do not see any issue here.
If you mention other names then you need to provide the proof such as deed poll documnets and Passports
Please refer SPECIFIC -HELP Text mention in Tier1 Application form.
B1-B4 The applicant should provide full details of
his/her name and title. If the applicant has previously
been known by any other name(s) he/she should
provide full details of each name, the date of each
change and submit the relevant supporting legal
documentation.
Evidence of name change(s) should show the
applicant’s full name before and after the change and
may include:
•deed poll documents; and
•Both the old passport and the new passport.
Should the applicant submit documentation in
support of his/her application that refers to
them under name(s) not given in this section, that
documentation will not be considered by us.

I agree, its going to be more critical if the other name is specified.

In fact, in my salary slip , the surname had a spelling mistake. However, since bank a/c no in the payslip and other documents were correct, I had no problem of getting the approval.

I am in a similar situation with HSMP Approval Application i.e. Middle name on one category of documents and not on others.

The decision should be made this week if all goes well. If they refuse it for the reason in question then I will notify you ASAP.

Good Luck with your applications, Everyone.
