Do I need NARIC assesment for New UK Tier 1 Visa

Post by gangaraju6 » Wed Jul 09, 2008 3:25 pm

Hi,

I have Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Viswearaiah Technological University, Belgaum , Karnataka, India. when I am applying for HSMP do I still need to get assessed by NARIC even though all the Bachelor degrees under VTU are approved by NARIC?

It will do you a lot of good and will save you a lot of time if you read the Tier 1 guidance notes *carefully*.

Yes you are correct. I went through the guidance document for Tier 1 visa and it clearly mentions that proof of document needed are
1. Original test result certifi cate: The certifi cate must
clearly show the:
• applicant’s name;
• qualifi cation obtained; and
• date of the award.
and even my Degree is getting 10 points under points calculator.
but i was going through some discussion forums and candidates have applied NARIC assessment letter along with their HSMP application form..
Now i am bit confused whether i should submit only the documents that are mentioned in guidance document or I should even get assesed by NARIC for my qualification and submit the same with HSMPapplication forum..
Please help me in clearing my doubts I am bit afraid whether my application might get rejected because of this simple mistake.

If your degree satisfies English requirement on UKBA Points calculator, then you don't need NARIC letter.

Now I am back to loop again..
I was going through english language requirement in case worker document and it mentioned that

Applicants should provide both their original degree certificate and an original letter from the awarding body confirming the course was taught in English.
The original degree certificate should clearly show:
• the date of the award; and
• the title of the award; and
• the name of the awarding institution; and
• their name.
The original letter from the awarding body should show:
• the applicant’s name;
• the qualification obtained;
• the date of award of the degree;
• that the course was taught in English.
Where applicants are relying on a qualification submitted in support of the ‘Qualifications’ points scoring area, they will only need to provide the original letter from the awarding body confirming that English was the language of instruction.

As mentioned before I hold BE in Electronics and Communication from VTU, Belgaum, Karnataka, India. and I have Convocation certification which doesnt describe anything about the language in which Degree is obtained..
Now what is the solution for this?
Do I need to get Letter from VTU stating that my degree was taught in English?

I think you are looking at HSMP guidance. You need to look at Tier 1 guidance.

Hi Cool,

Appreciate your patience of answering the query.
Is HSMP guidance different from Tier1 Guidance..
i got the details regarding the English requirement mentioned previously from the following link http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... rguidance/

now according Tier1 guidance it indicates
1. Original degree certifi cate: The original degree
certifi cate must clearly show the:
• applicant’s name;
• title of the award;
• date of the award; and,
• name of the awarding institution.

now what should i do?

Yes.

If you are applying for Tier 1, only submit those documents required for Tier 1. You don't need a letter from your University, degree certificate is enough.

HSMP is the old demised version of Tier 1. HSMP ended in India on 31 March 2008 and world wide on 29 June 2008.

Tier 1 is (basically) same as HSMP, but there are many important changes as compared to HSMP (regarding documentation, etc.). The differences will become clear when you read Tier 1 guidance.

So please give me a call on my mobile: +91-9886117507. I want to discuss with you. I am planning to apply in the 2nd week of December 2008. Thanks.
1. Try this - Tier 1 policy guidance.
2. It is advised not to share personal contact information on a public forum. Use PM instead to contact any user directly.
