Can Tier 2 General Visa Holders claim child benefit for UK born child

Post by Dheerajitsme » Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:39 pm

Hi,

I am India and currently on Tier 2 General Visa. My child is UK Born for whom I haven't applied for any passport yet. Can I claim child benefit for my child?

If not, can I claim it from past date when I get my ILR next year?

Thanks

Can I claim child benefit for my child?
No you cannot. Your visa clearly states no recourse to public funds.
If not, can I claim it from past date when I get my ILR next year?
You can only claim from the date you get ilr. You will not get backdated payments for time before you get ilr as you are not permitted to claim benefits in the pre ilr time.

To claim Tax-Free Childcare for non-UK born child with ILR, is it true that both parents with ILR should be employed ?
