Foreign passport renewal during Irish citizenship application - inform INIS?

I submitted my application for Irish citizenship a few months ago, sending in my current and previous UK passports at the time.

My current UK passport expires in a few months so I need to renew it soon. Does anyone know if I need to inform INIS, or even send them the new UK passport when I receive it?

I have that situation in past. So I renew the passport and send them copy of color page with letter that I have renewed the passport.

You do not need to send the new passport to them, but you should let them know. I would just scan the ID page and email it over. You won't be able to receive a naturalisation certificate unless you have a valid ID with you on the day of the ceremony, and they will likely not send you an invitation if your ID on file is expired.

Thanks for the replies - as recommended I'll send a copy of the photo ID page when I get the new passport.

I'm not sure if I should wait to receive acknowledgment letter and application number from INIS before doing so, though I'm hoping I'll have received that before my new UK passport.
